Chelsea fullback Ben Gordon admits teammates Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel convinced him about moving on-loan to Kilmarnock.
Gordon, who made an auspicious competitive start to his loan spell with Kilmarnock against Rangers on Saturday, spoke after the match of how he approached his more eminent Chelsea colleagues over advice on whether to travel to Ayrshire.
"The reserves and first-team train together at Chelsea so I see a lot of the senior players," he said.
"The World Cup players were still away on holiday when the chance came up for me to come to Kilmarnock. I spoke to Michael Essien and Jon Obi Mikel and they asked me what my aims were for the season. I said I wanted to go out and play games and develop so they told me to jump at it."
Gordon is already relishing the experience, saying: "I have signed until January but if things go well I'd like to extend it. I'd rather be playing first-team games here than going back into the reserves."
