Chelsea fullback Ashley Cole is set to break several records with England today.
If England go all the way in South Africa then the 29-year-old left will become his country's most capped player in a major tournament and can realistically set a new World Cup record in the future, too.
Cole will win his 82nd cap against Germany tomorrow and that will be his 14th World Cup appearance, putting him level with Bobby Moore, Terry Butcher and Bobby Charlton and within touching distance of Peter Shilton's record of 17.
Coe has made 17 appearances in a major tournament and tomorrow will draw level with Gary Lineker and Sol Campbell on 18 while Michael Owen has 19 and Peter Shilton and David Beckham have made 20.
Trouble is, Cole is also closing in on one unwanted record. Four more caps without a goal and Cole will beat Gary Neville's record of 85 caps without ever scoring for England.
