Chelsea have identified AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli as a replacement for Gary Cahill.

Club captain Cahill has been relegated to the bench by Antonio Conte in recent months. That is without the Blues playing well at the back, having had conceded 10 goals in their last five games.

Romagnoli, 23, has been compared with Italian great Alessandro Nesta. And according to Leggo, Conte wants to bring his compatriot to Stamford Bridge.

Conte will be cheering for Arsenal in their Europa League tie against Milan, as it is believed the Serie A giants will sell Romagnoli if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Milan paid Roma £22m for Romagnoli in 2015.
