Chelsea will face competition from Atletico Madrid should they firm up their interest in Matthias Ginter.

The 26 year-old Borussia Monchengladbach was linked with Chelsea over the weekend.

And Kicker says along with the Blues, Atletico are also ready to bid for Ginter in January.

Chelsea have been in the market for a new centre-half with doubts over Toni Rudiger's future. The German has cleared the air with manager Frank Lampard, but could yet be leaving in January.

Ginter's future with Gladbach is likely to depend on their Champions League group campaign.
