Chelsea drop Falcao as Pato comes in to Champions League squad

Radamel Falcao has been omitted from Chelsea's squad for the remainder of the UEFA Champions League.

The Colombian striker is struggling to regain full fitness following a thigh injury sustained last year and has subsequently been cut from Guus Hiddink's roster for the European knockout stages.

Chelsea submitted their 22-man squad for the Round of 16 clashes with Paris Saint-Germain, and any further fixtures, on Wednesday and it did not include Falcao who is on a season-long loan from Monaco.

Straight into the roster, however, is winter signing Alexandre Pato who joined the Blues on loan from Brazilian side Corinthians.

Joining Pato in Hiddink's squad is fellow January arrival Matt Miazga who was signed for £3.5million from MLS club New York Red Bulls.

Chelsea meet PSG in the Round of 16 first leg at Parc des Princes on February 16.
