Chelsea defender Thiago Silva in fresh blast at PSG: My eight years ignored

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has revisited his departure from PSG.

Speaking with Canal Football Club via Le 10 Sport, Thiago Silva again admitted he was upset with the way he was treated in the final months of his career in Paris.

The stopper joined Chelsea as a free agent after coming off contract at PSG following their Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich.

Over his eight years with the Parisians, Thiago Silva won seven Ligue 1 titles, was a five-time Coupe de France winner and a six-time Coupe de la Ligue winner.

And the Brazil international admits there's a bitterness over the way he was treated in his final days with the club, particularly given all the success he'd brought to the Parisians over their eight years together

He said, "(Sporting director) Leonardo called me, he told me that I was not part of the club project, that I could leave. It was very hard for us to accept that. I made the decision to start choosing where I could play.

"After the Champions League final he called me into his office and asked if I had already signed with another club. I said no but that I had given Chelsea my word and that I was going to sign in the evening. For me, the most important thing is talking. Once you've said things, you can't change your mind like that. In my opinion, they changed their mind after the Champions League. I displayed qualities, and the thing that leaves me sad is those years gone by ... I did eight years there and they didn't take that into account - only three games to change their mind.

"Everything I did before was wasted. It's sad to make a decision like that, but it's football."

This term, in his first season in England, Thiago Silva has played 12 games and scored once.
