Chelsea defender Rudiger: Roma prepared me for Sarri-ball

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger believes that playing at Roma prepared him for the style of his Blues boss Maurizio Sarri.

It can be a tough adjustment for defenders to play in a pass-heavy style such as the one employed by Sarri.

But Rudiger has adjusted, showing his versatility.

In an interview with the club's website, the German international said: "Going to Italy was the biggest step in my career so far. I learned a lot of the defensive work there.

"Before, in Germany I used only my power and my strength, but less the brain.

"I'm a person that it doesn't matter where I am, I try to adapt as quickly as possible. Italy was a bit different because of the language but I tried my best and by the end I learned Italian and life was easy.

"What people see on the pitch is my passion, not to give up, to fight, and I'm working hard for me team, the club and of course the fans."
