Chelsea defender Rudiger: I quit Bundesliga because of bad rep

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has spoken of his decision to leave the Bundesliga four years ago.

In 2015, the Germany international quit VfB Stuttgart at 22 years of age for AS Roma.

And he admits a rash of red cards made up his mind, with Rudiger believing he needed a change of scenery to win back his reputation.

He explained to BILD: "Of course, I have also contributed something through my red cards.

"I noticed that you cannot get rid of this image so fast. So I thought that I would seek a new start abroad..."
