Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso wants to return to Madrid, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Alonso wants to play his football in Madrid again- but this time for Atletico rather than Real Madrid.

According to reports manager Diego Simeone wants the 28-year-old to strengthen his defence following the departures of Diego Godin and Juanfran.

Alonso is also thought to be keen to move on from Stamford Bridge and return to his native Spain.

He came through the ranks at Atletico's bitter rivals Real Madrid.
