Chelsea defender David Luiz believes that his play style has been vindicated by the way the Premier League has adapted in the past few seasons.
Luiz was famously chastised by Gary Neville for being a "PlayStation footballer" due to his showboating with the ball while playing out from defen e.
However, Luiz points to how many teams now play in such a way as proof that he had it right all along.
"Now in modern football the first striker is the goalkeeper with his feet, and the first defenders are the strikers," he said to the Chelsea official website ahead of their Europa League final against Arsenal.
"I love that and it is the evolution of football.
"I remember when I started no one wanted me to play from the back, no one wanted me to kick the ball long and it depended on the style of the coach, but now everyone understands."
