Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is delighted for Timo Werner after he scored in victory over Newcastle United.
Werner struck his first goal in 1,000 minutes of Premier League action in Monday's 2-0 win over Newcastle, ending a 14-game scoreless run in the top flight.
Christensen said: “Personally maybe he needed that. But he always works hard and I think the team appreciates that.
“That's all we ask of him, and that he keeps going. But I think it was more important for him personally to get his goal and keep scoring.
“For me personally as long as he works hard, and I can't fault him on that. I think we are just happy for him and we hope he keeps going.
“Sooner or later it was going to happen. Even the amount of chances he has, he always pops up in the right places.
“We know he is going to get the chances, so it is just a matter of time. Hopefully the start was in this game."
