Chelsea are covering a majority of Tiemoue Bakayoko's wages while he plays on-loan at AC Milan.
The midfielder has been handed a second chance by Milan chief Gennaro Gattuso, and the Italians have confirmed they have an option to buy - believed to be £31million - if the move works out.
Reports in Italy have suggested the Blues agreed to pay the bulk of the ace's wages as they tried to get the switch over the line.
Calciomercato.com claims Chelsea will contribute £65,000 per week, with Milan responsible for the remaining £43,000.
Milan will compete in the Europa League this season after the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned a Uefa ban.
