Chelsea could still fulfil their home fixtures at Stamford Bridge while it is being rebuilt.
The club are looking to redevelop the ground to boost capacity from just under 42,000 to 60,000 after giving up on plans to build a new stadium elsewhere.
While one of the options is to play elsewhere for a few seasons while work is carried out, the club will also consider staying put as each stand is built one at a time.
Chelsea would look to do all sides, plus the necessary work on improving the links to public transport in four years.
