Chelsea confirm departures of Falcao, Pato, Amelia

Chelsea have confirmed the summer exits of a trio of players.

The contracts of Radamel Falcao, Alexandre Pato and Marco Amelia have all expired which has brought to an end their respective stays at Stamford Bridge.

Colombian striker Falcao joined on a season-long loan from French club AS Monaco but failed to make an impact in West London, missing a large chunk of the campaign because of injury.

Brazilian forward Pato arrived from Corinthians in January, scoring one goal and making one start, while Italian goalkeeper Amelia made his way to The Bridge as a free agent in October as cover for the injured Thibaut Courtois.

A statement on Chelsea's official website read: "With contracts having come to an end, we today say farewell to three players who were part of the squad during last season - Falcao, Pato and Marco Amelia.

"Chelsea Football Club thanks the players for their contributions and wishes them success in the future."
