Chelsea confident controlling future of Bournemouth defender Ake

Chelsea management are confident they're in control of Nathan Ake's future at Bournemouth.

Sky Sports says the Blues are favourites to land the Bournemouth star thanks to a £40m buy-back clause. This despite competition from Manchester City.

Chelsea sold Ake, 24, to the Cherries for just £20m in the wake of their 2017 title win.

Ake has since gone from strength to strength on the south coast, playing all 38 league games in each of his last two seasons while becoming a regular in the Netherlands squad.

It's now reckoned Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants the club to re-sign Ake after being left unimpressed with Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen.

That's despite interest from Manchester City, who are struggling in the defensive department.
