Chelsea coach Barry a candidate for QPR manager's job

Chelsea coach Anthony Barry is being linked with the QPR manager's job.

The London Evening Standard says the Championship club are looking for their second new manager inside six months after Michael Beale left last week for Scottish giants Rangers.

Set-piece specialist Barry is fresh from World Cup agony, having been part of Roberto Martinez's staff with Belgium, who were last night eliminated at the group stage in Qatar.

Disappointment at not reaching the knockout stages has seen Martinez leave his international post.

Barry, who has worked under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter at Chelsea, is now being considered as a replacement for Beale.

He joined Chelsea in 2020 as an additional member of Lampard's coaching staff before staying to work under Tuchel and now Potter. He has already resisted several attempts to lure him away from Chelsea, including first-team manager roles at Fleetwood Town and a reunion with Lampard at Everton.

Huddersfield Town also interviewed Barry for a recent managerial vacancy.
