Chelsea cleared over Fiorentina complaint against Roma winger Salah

Chelsea have been cleared of any wrongdoing regarding the loan move of Mohamed Salah to AS Roma last summer.

The Egyptian winger spent the second half of the 2014/15 season on loan with Fiorentina before turning to Chelsea and then joining Roma for a season-long stay with the view to a permanent deal.

Fiorentina had alleged breach of contract regarding the situation but Chelsea have been cleared after the decision was made by the player himself and not forced by the West London club.

"The dispute resolution chamber (DRC) dealt with the dispute opposing the Italian club, ACF Fiorentina, to the player, Mohamed Salah Ghaly, and the English club, Chelsea FC," said a FIFA spokesperson.

"The findings of the relevant decision, without grounds, have been communicated to the parties on June 8, 2016.

"The claim of the Italian club was rejected. Since the decision is not yet final and binding, we are not in a position to comment on it any further."

Salah enjoyed a fruitful campaign with Giallorossi in 2015/16, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
