Neil Etheridge has revealed that Chelsea skipper John Terry used to do plenty for the club's youth players.
Walsall goalkeeper Etheridge spent four years with the Blues academy between 2002 and 2006, seeing first-hand just how generous captain Terry and some of the other senior players really were.
"John used to pay for the scholarship players to have their driving licences and their tests and stuff," said the 25-year-old former Fulham, Bristol Rovers and Charlton Athletic keeper.
"That's great and things like that brought the academy closer to the first team. Until the back end of the first time (Jose) Mourinho was there were a lot of English-based players.
"They were big-time players but we never really saw them that way. We saw them for their true colours when we got to train with them."
