Chelsea burn off Liverpool in battle for Molde striker David Datro Fofana

Chelsea have burned off competition from Liverpool in the battle for Molde striker David Datro Fofana.

Liverpool are set to miss out on the signing of Fofana after it was revealed that Chelsea had 'struck an agreement' with the Norwegian side.

The Reds were linked with the Ivory Coast forward back in November after his impressive start to the season began attracting interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. After just 24 games, the 19-year-old has 15 goals and five assists.

But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a full agreement of around £8.6million has been struck between Molde and the Blues for Fofana, who has been compared to Erling Haaland as a result of his devastating goal record for the Norwegian outfit.
