Chelsea boss Tuchel: Thiago Silva and I have exceptional, very special relationship

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is delighted to be working with Thiago Silva again.

Thiago Silva was Tuchel's captain at Paris Saint Germain before he left as a free agent for Chelsea last summer. The veteran defender has enjoyed an impressive first season in England, though has suffered an interruption due to injury.

Before Saturday's defeat to West Brom, when Thiago Silva saw red, Tuchel told Canal+ via Le 10 Sport: "We had an exceptional and very special relationship.

"He was my captain and was super reliable. He's one of the best players and has a great personality.

"We had a connection very quickly in Paris, and finding him here was a pleasure."

Dismissal at home to West Brom eventually saw Thiago Silva's teammates thumped 5-2 by the relegation-threatened Baggies.

Over his eight years with Paris Saint Germain, Thiago Silva won seven Ligue 1 titles, was a five-time Coupe de France winner and a six-time Coupe de la Ligue winner.

The stopper joined Chelsea as a free agent after coming off contract at Paris Saint Germain following their Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich.

So far this season, Thiago Silva has managed 22 appearances for Chelsea, scoring twice.
