Chelsea boss Tuchel explains Cucurella move; coy on Aubameyang interest

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he expects to sign Brighton fullback Marc Cucurella.

The Spaniard underwent a medical in London on Thursday evening after an offer rising to £62m was accepted by Brighton.

Tuchel said today ahead of their Premier League opener against Everton: "For Cucurella it's not over yet. The paperwork is underway, we hope to be able to finish them before noon.

"Marc is a fantastic player, young, very smart and mobile. That's why we hope everything goes well. His arrival can help (Ben) Chilwell escape the pressure of 'having to assist'.

"We have Marcos Alonso, Kenedy and Emerson, but we hope that Marc can be an option."

Tuchel was also asked about talk of a move for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the former Arsenal captain.

He added, "Aubameyang? We will not comment further, many names are revealed in the press, some we work on, others that are just speculation."
