Chelsea boss Tuchel: Everton? We know what's coming and we'll be ready

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is expecting a big test for their Premier League kickoff against Everton.

Chelsea were beaten by Everton last season.

Tuchel recalled: "We played very late last season at Everton and we lost. We remember very well. We know what is coming; a fantastic atmosphere, very emotional crowd and a very emotional team. We know some familiar faces on the other side; we have a lot of respect for Frank and his staff; there are a lot of people with Chelsea history. It will be very respectful between the two benches, but it will be very competitive. We know what is coming and we'll be ready."

Tuchel also spoke of his squad's condition after pre-season and a hefty defeat to Arsenal: "We are some steps further on; maybe it was necessary to lose that game against a rival like Arsenal, who are trying to take our place [in the top four]. It was a wake up call for everybody.

"It is natural in the last week of pre-season you see a new focus, a new excitement and as new level in training. The legs are fresh now, but we are not where we can be. We feel ready and competitive for tomorrow."
