Chelsea boss Sarri hails young trio ahead of Cup clash

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is delighted with the response of his young players this season.

Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek started the season on the sidelines but the former Everton man has three goals in four and the academy graduate has four in his last two.

With Eden Hazard missing the last three games, before the League Cup clash with Derby, with a back injury, the two homegrown talents have stepped up.

And Sarri loves the idea of a fully-fit squad giving him selection problems as his side targets a handful of trophies.

The Italian wrote in his programme notes: “I have been pleased with the way my players have responded when we have made changes to the team in the last few weeks.

“In fact I now have a problem because I can only select 11 players to start each game and so many of them are performing so well.

“I am so happy to see so many goals being scored by different players in our last few games as well, especially from midfielders like Barkley and Loftus-Cheek, but also from (Alvaro) Morata in attack.

“It is important that we have a lot of players who can score goals and decide games and I hope they can continue to taker their opportunities."
