Chelsea boss Sarri confesses Higuain transfer 'regret'

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits he "regrets" missing out on the signing of Gonzalo Higuain.

Sarri worked with Higuain at Napoli and had hoped to land the former Juventus striker before he agreed to join AC Milan.

Sarri's Chelsea beat Huddersfield 3-0 on Saturday in the Italian's first taste of Premier League football.

And after the game the boss was asked on Sky Sport Italia about his regrets in the transfer market.

"Higuain? It's a little regret but in the end everyone after the market has a few little regrets," Sarri said.

Higuain himself has spoken about why he didn't join the Blues this summer.

“I have huge respect for Sarri, but he was the only one who wanted me at Chelsea," Higuain said at his Milan unveiling.

“Here at Milan everyone wanted me.

“The motivation and conviction they showed at Milan was fundamental."
