Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was happy with his team's performance in the UEFA Super Cup, despite losing on penalties.
Looking to bounce back after a 4-0 loss to Manchester United at the weekend, Chelsea began the game impressively.
They took the lead through Olivier Giroud, but Liverpool bounced back in the second half.
Extra time ended 2-2, with Chelsea having two goals disallowed in the game for offside.
The Reds went on to win the penalty shootout and lift the trophy.
Speaking about the game, Lampard said to reporters: "I don't know about that because I respect Liverpool.
"But clearly for me we were the stronger team. We had bad luck at times and bad finishing at times.
"My overall feeling is one of pride in team performance and happiness.
"I am a terrible loser. You should be. We wanted to win this game. But we were very unfortunate today.
"We were slightly unfortunate but that's what penalties is, I suppose."
