Chelsea boss Lampard: We need to be adaptable

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admits they must be tactically flexible after their friendly win over St Patrick's Athletic.

Lampard discussed his side's aim for adaptability as they lined up in a 4-diamond-2 in the first half before switching to 4-2-3-1 after the break.

"We want to be adaptable, whether we need to change something in-game or for games," he said.

"That's the way we train and I want the players to have that. We know we're not bringing any players in so we need to find little ways in pre-season and we want to try to make it difficult for teams to play against us.

"It went really well in the first half. We had a lot of bodies in midfield and they dominated the ball in there, as they should do in this sort of game. As we get fitter, train more and the combinations get better, hopefully we'll see more of that."
