Frank Lampard has provided an update about the fitness of central defender Antonio Rudiger.

The German international has been absent with a long term knee problem.

Lampard also touched on the fitness of England attacking midfielder Ross Barkley.

Chelsea face Aston Villa in their next Premier League game in midweek.

The Blues are hoping to bounce back from their loss to West Ham United at the weekend.

Lampard said of Barkley and Rudiger to reporters: "Ross has been sick since Monday night, not fit to be in the game.

"Rudiger we are hoping he will be available in a week to 10 days."
