Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was pleased with goalscorer Mason Mount for their 4-0 friendly win at St Patrick's Athletic.

Mount in the midfield diamond was Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho – and Lampard was particularly pleased by the performances of the two Englishmen, while Scottish teenager Billy Gilmour was also praised for his second half display.

“Mason (Mount) showed me what I saw at Derby last year with his energy, him and Ross (Barkley), and yeah there were a lot of good performances.

“Billy Gilmore has had a great trip. The personality he has shown on this trip to play the two games at the level he's played them have been great. I just hope Billy keeps pushing on this season.

“The younger players have now got a target: can you prove in pre-season that you're good enough to threaten the team? the squad? or whatever it might be."
