Chelsea boss Lampard pleased with Gilmour, Hudson-Odoi for FA Cup win

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was pleased with Billy Gilmour and Callum Hudson-Odoi for their FA Cup defeat of Morecambe.

Lampard gave both players a start for the 4-0 win.

On Gilmour, he said: "Billy is pushing and he has been since he made his breakthrough last season. I always knew he would be a very good player for this club even at his young age. He came in today, his attitude was good and he moved the ball well, which he also did when he came on against Man City last week.

"When you talk about the Academy players and the youth of this squad, you have to say they're performing very well for us but we can't ask for them to absolutely consistent all the time and produce the numbers that other players in the league do. That will come for our lads but at the moment their own contributions are good."

For Hudson-Odoi, Lampard also said: "Callum is playing well - he's improved, is improving and there's much more to come from him. His application in training and his desire to look at his game are really good.

"A goal like today is a fantastic example for him of making a run to break the line and then ending up in a central area like a striker because that's what the modern-day winger does. He's making his case, assisting, making goals and there's definitely been an uplift from Callum and there are even more gears he can go to."
