Chelsea boss Lampard explains shutting door on Giroud exit

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Olivier Giroud will not leave on deadline day.

Lampard has also ruled out a late deal to sign Dries Mertens from Napoli.

Asked about any incomings, Lampard said: “No ins means no outs."

Lampard has failed to bring in any new faces this month, so Giroud will not get his move.

Lampard added: “We all know there has been interest, I've sat here at every press conference and said 'If it's right for Olivier, for myself and the club' and he's been impeccable in that period.

“I've got huge respect for him as a player. The answer again is no, as in will he leave? No."

The Chelsea boss added he was "95 per cent" sure their transfer dealings are complete for the current window.
