Chelsea boss Lampard eager to give new central defensive pairing a chance

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants to go with Toni Rudiger and Andreas Christensen as his first-choice defensive pairing.

Fikayo Tomori has now fallen down the pecking order and has not played in the league since their 2-1 win over Arsenal at the end of December.

The 22-year-old was again an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Monday night with Lampard opting for Christensen and Rudiger as his centre-back pairing.

Football.London says there are no question marks over Tomori's attitude in training or on the pitch and he is continuing to work hard to get another chance.

They also claim Lampard is looking for stability in his defence, rather than keep changing his centre-back pairing, and is willing give Christensen and Rudiger a chance to grow.
