Chelsea boss Lampard angrily rejects Werner, Torres comparisons

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has rejected comparisons between Timo Werner and former teammate Fernando Torres.

The £53m German striker is without a Premier League goal for the Blues since November 7, and missed a gilt-edged chance to end his drought late on at Fulham on Saturday.

"All players will experience it in their career. All eyes are on and it becomes magnified. I need to work with him on it," he said on Monday ahead of Tuesday's trip to Leicester.

"I'm not comparing him to anybody. Everybody is different, Torres had difficult times here but won the Champions League.

"All we need to do is create the best environment to get the best out of Timo. You must repeat, keep working and he needs to keep his head down and focus, I need to give him positivity."

Werner has nine goals in 26 appearances since arriving from RB Leipzig, with only four coming in the Premier League.
