Lampard will impress on his team that this week — with both Manchester United and Tottenham coming to Stamford Bridge — is when they will really show whether they have the fight to make the top four.
"I don't mind the reality of it, I like the reality of it," he said.
"I think the players should know that this is what it's all about. If you want to make the top four, we're in a good position. And we can affect it seriously over the next seven days.
"That's not bad to have that in your mind. We should be slightly on edge. Training should be slightly on edge like it was today and people are being tense and competitive. And you have to take that into the game against Man Utd."
