Maurizio Sarri has finally departed London for Turin after Chelsea and Juventus came to terms with a compensation packet.

And the Daily Express says the Blues aren't waiting any longer to make their move for Frank Lampard.

The former player enjoyed a fine first season in management with Derby County last term, and is highly touted to become the manager of his former club this summer.

The board were initially split over whether Lampard, just 12 months into his managerial career in which he took the Rams to the play-off final, has the experience necessary to keep the club in contention for Champions League.

That task became even tougher this week as Eden Hazard completed an £88m move to Real Madrid.

Securing Lampard's services from Derby could cost £4m of the Sarri money.

However, with former Juventus manager Max Allegri ruling himself out of contention and the clock ticking toward the first week of July when the squad report back to pre-season training, the club have decided to trust one of their most successful players to take them into a new, fresher era.
