Chelsea have entered into contract talks with youngster Mason Mount.
The midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Derby County, is encouraged by the possible appointment of Frank Lampard as the Blues manager.
Given Lampard wants to build a new look Chelsea team around young players, Mount could have a key role to play.
The Evening Standard says he will hold contract talks with the club's board in the coming days.
It could lead to the 20-year-old committing his long-term future to the club, much like Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The latter is set to sign a £150,000-a-week new deal, while Callum Hudson-Odoi is another youngster who could commit to a new contract.
Chelsea having a transfer ban is playing a role in them trying to tie down their best young players.
