Chelsea have made an opening bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The Sun says Chelsea have had a £15m bid for Mendy rejected.
The 28-year-old has been impressive this season since his £3.6m switch from Stade de Reims, keeping 13 clean sheets and only conceding 31 goals helping Rennes qualify for the Champions League.
Frank Lampard is actively in the market for a goalkeeper with current club number one Kepa proving unreliable since his £71m switch.
The 6ft 6 giant has a 76% save percentage compared to Kepa, who's save percentage was as low as 50%.
Along with Chelsea, Mendy is also a target for Andre Villas-Boas' Marseille.
