United States star Christian Pulisic was sent to hospital after suffering an injury while scoring his side's only goal against Iran at the World Cup.

Pulisic got the decisive goal in a 1-0 win for the USA, who are now through to the last 16 of the tournament.

However, the Chelsea star injured himself in the process of scoring the goal, getting a significant accidental kick to his groin area from an Iranian player.

Reports have stated that Pulisic was taken to hospital for routine checks.

While there are no guarantees, Pulisic did post on social media from his hospital bed that he would be ready to take on Netherlands on Saturday.

The USMNT will have to overcome the Dutch if they are to progress any further in the tournament.
