Chelsea assistant boss Gianfranco Zola was impressed with his players against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea won 2-1 on the night, taking the game to penalties and winning the shoot out.

It came days after their manager Maurizio Sarri laid into the players, questioning their mentality after a poor performance in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the league.

Zola believes this result was the perfect response from the team

"It might be," he said in his press conference.

"Certainly the players yesterday wanted to go to the final they showed a lot of personality and in the end the result was good.

"Sometimes it can go one of two ways, but it is not always a negative. The players took it in the right way and we should that."
