Chelsea, Arsenal alerted as Bayern Munich chief confirms Boateng split

Premier League clubs are on alert as Jerome Boateng prepares to leave Bayern Munich.

Boateng will end a decade-long stay at Bayern Munich after sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed the all-conquering Germans will not extend the defender's contract.

The 32-year-old's future has been clouded by uncertainty for months, with his current deal at the Allianz Arena coming to an end this summer amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

"Jerome's contract expires in the summer. It will not be extended," Salihamidzic told Sky Germany.

"That was a joint decision of the club management and the coach was also involved. I explained that to Jerome and he was very understanding. He leaves through a big door - hopefully with titles."

Boateng has made more than 350 appearances for the German giants since joining them from Manchester City a decade ago.
