Cagliari's Nicolo Barella has emerged as a transfer target for a pair of Premier League clubs.

Reports in Italy suggest that Chelsea and Liverpool have been secretly watching the 20-year-old midfielder.

Sardinian newspaper La Nuova is of the belief that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp sent spies to watch Barella star for Cagliari in their 1-0 loss to Fiorentina on the weekend.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also believed to be interested as he seeks up and coming talent in midfield.

Serie A quartet Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and AS Roma continue to watch Italy U20 international Barella closely.
