Chelsea and Higuain weigh up future

Chelsea management are weighing up whether to keep hold of Gonzalo Higuain amid their transfer ban.

The London Evening Standard says Chelsea have yet to confirm reports that Higuain can be re-signed on loan, despite the transfer embargo.

It has been suggested that because Higuain was registered as a Chelsea player when he joined from Juventus in January and there was an option in the deal to extend it by another 12 months for £15.6m, he would not count as a new acquisition.

For the moment, Chelsea are keeping their powder dry as they take their appeal against the ban to the Court of Arbitration in Sport.

For his part, Higuain is eager to stay, knowing he is unwanted back in Turin.
