Chelsea admit they're unlikely to reach their break-even target set for 2010.
Chief executive Peter Kenyon was told by oligarch Roman Abramovich when he took over at Stamford Bridge in 2003 that the club should be self-sufficient by 2010.
But a Chelsea spokesman told the Sunday Mirror: "It was always an ambitious target and the likelihood of hitting it is not great. But the aim is to get close to it.
"We hope to generate the majority of transfers through sales."
