Charlton loan for West Ham starlet Oxford could be off

Reece Oxford's proposed loan move to Charlton Athletic is under a cloud of uncertainty.

The 17-year-old West Ham United young gun had reportedly agreed to join the Championship club for the remainder of the season but it is believed that Addicks boss Jose Riga is not convinced by his ability.

According to the Daily Mail, Riga does not know enough about the England U17 international and has opted to cancel the temporary move.

It is believed that Charlton have been keen on the central defender, who is just as capable as a defensive midfielder, for some time but agreed the loan before Riga took the reins at The Valley and the Belgian has decided to call off the deal.

There is still hope that the two clubs can come to an agreement so Oxford can get some regular minutes under his belt in the second part of the season.
