Charlton boss Robinson: Arsenal have high hopes for Stephy Mavididi

Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson is delighted with their loan deal for Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi.

The 18-year-old striker moved to the Valley on deadline day on a loan that will last until the end of the season – the first time Mavididi has gone out on loan.

“Stephy's somebody who is athletic, plays on the last man, stretches the game and we can use him really wisely," Robinson said in his pre-match press conference.

“He's a very talented individual, somebody I know Arsenal have very high hopes for and we thank them for the opportunity to work with him.

“Hopefully we can improve him while he's here, it's his first loan so you're never quite sure how it's going to go. We're excited by it, obviously Nicky [Ajose] moving on meant we needed somebody of that ilk, someone who plays on the last man.

“We wanted to replace Ajose and we found that very quickly."
