Charlton Athletic are delighted to have secured left-back Ian Maatsen on loan for the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old is a Dutch youth international and is signing from Chelsea.

Maatsen has been with the Blues since 2018, arriving from PSV Eindhoven.

How he gets the chance to show his quality for Lee Bowyer's team.

Bowyer told the club's website of the move: "He's a very exciting left-back. He's ambitious [with the ball], very good in possession, he has great energy, great pace.

"I would say he is quite similar to Jay Dasilva, the way he travels with the ball and goes past people.

"He's exciting and different to what we have."
