The Major League Soccer (MLS) board is meeting on 5th December where it could decide to award Charlotte its 30th expansion franchise slot, with an announcement possibly coming a day later, according to the local WFAE news outlet, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
MLS spokesman Dan Courtemanche told the Charlotte Business Journal that any announcement would take place in the city of the new team but a timeline regarding North American soccer's top flight newest franchise "had not been finalised".
James Mitchell, who chairs Charlotte City council's economic development committee, says, if confirmed, a council vote on the funding could be passed as soon as 16th December.
