Charlotte poised for MLS expansion slot franchise

The Major League Soccer (MLS) board is meeting on 5th December where it could decide to award Charlotte its 30th expansion franchise slot, with an announcement possibly coming a day later, according to the local WFAE news outlet, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

MLS spokesman Dan Courtemanche told the Charlotte Business Journal that any announcement would take place in the city of the new team but a timeline regarding North American soccer's top flight newest franchise "had not been finalised".

James Mitchell, who chairs Charlotte City council's economic development committee, says, if confirmed, a council vote on the funding could be passed as soon as 16th December.
