Emiliano Martinez has explained that loan spells in the lower reaches of English football have prepared him well for Arsenal first-team duty.
Martinez joined Arsenal back in 2012 but the Argentine custodian has spent a significant time out on loan, playing for the likes of Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
With both Petr Cech and David Ospina ruled out at the moment, Martinez is enjoying a run in the Arsenal first team and the goalkeeper has stated that the loan experiences in the lower divisions have helped him to prepare well for action in the Premier League.
Martinez told Arsenal.com: "It helps a lot.
"I have been in the Championship, played probably 40 games in the Championship, and it helped me to develop.
"You play with strong defenders, strong strikers, it's not the same as playing at under-23 or under-21 level. You train hard because you want to play every single game.
"It helps you to be calm in big games, for example against West Ham."
