CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER-FINAL 1st LEG: Malaga and Borussia Dortmund draw blanks

Malaga and Borussia Dortmund have played out a 0-0 draw in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Estadio La Rosaleda tonight.

German champions Dortmund were extremely wasteful on the night, missing a host of chances that would have put them in an unassailable position ahead of the return leg next Tuesday.

Mario Gotze was the major culprit for Dortmund, misfiring on three occasions, with Malaga keeper Willy Caballero having a busy night but doing everything he could to keep a clean sheet.

24 minutes in, Robert Lewandowski was flagged offside when Kevin Grosskreutz had the ball in the back of the net before Malaga's Jeremy Toulalan saw his effort away from the post by Gotze.

Lewandowski later miscued his attempt from 12 yards prior to Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller doing well to deny Isco's well-struck shot and then keeping out Toulalan's follow-up.

In the end, however, neither side were able to ruffle the back of the opposing net with Dortmund heading home to the comforts of Westfalenstadion whilst Malaga will be desperate to score an early away goal to heap on the pressure next week.
