Central Coast's Travis settling in well

Former Sheffield United midfielder Nick Travis is settling well into his new life down under.

The Central Coast Mariners recruit says he has been made feel very welcome by his new teammates and thanked former Blades teammate David Carney for pointing him in the right direction.

"I've been at Sheffield United since I was nine and signed professional when I was 17. It's all I've ever known so this is a big contrast," Travis said.

"I got recommended to the gaffer (Lawrie McKinna) by Sheffield United. I came out at end of last season during Asian Champions League period. They offered me a contract and here I am.

"They are a great bunch of lads and they've made me feel very welcome.

"I've been speaking to Carns (Carney) a lot," he added.

"He's a good mate. He's given me a few contacts over here and a few things to do. He's been really good in suggesting people to sort out a car, a property, things like that.

"As for the football he told me that the standard here is good and that I'd enjoy it. There's a lot of good players here."
