As the second oldest player in the Celtic squad, Artur Boruc admits he may have to assume the role of elder statesman. "Maybe I am old now," said the 29 year old keeper, who was shocked to learn his place in the pecking order after less than four years at the club.
"But mentally, I am still very young.
"Somebody once said that you will never grow up if you don't want to and I think that's true. Besides, footballers are big kids to be honest and that's the way I am as well."
However, Boruc appreciates the importance of senior professionals taking young players under their wings.
The former Legia Warsaw star added in Celtic View: "I got a lot of help from older players when I first started out at Legia and when I came to Celtic, Stan (Stiliyan) Petrov helped me a lot as well.
"Even though he wasn't much older than me, he gave me a lot of advice that was very useful. Maybe that's something I will have to think about this season."
